Rooted Pilates’ group classes use the underlying principles of Pilates (breath, control, concentration, centering, precision, and flow) and core integration to teach the Pilates method. Joseph Pilates' original system provides the foundation for our classes, along with a focus on functional movement, modification for all abilities, and skill-building. To ensure appropriate modification, please speak to your teacher before class if you have any injuries or special conditions.
Movement Principles focuses on using breath and the basic principles of movement to help you build the strength and skill to apply to the Pilates method matwork. This is class is appropriate and recommended for all levels. Learn more about the class here.
Movement Principles for Prenatal + Postpartum use Pilates-based movement to strengthen and stretch the pregnant and postpartum body through all “four” trimesters in preparation for birth and then to aid in post-birth recovery. Particular attention is given to breathwork, deep-core activation, and strengthening of the pelvic floor and hip stabilizers. This class is appropriate for Pilates novices and seasoned practitioners.
Rooted Pilates Mat builds on the foundation of Rooted Movement Principles, allowing you to delve deeply into the traditional Pilates method matwork at a challenging but intentional pace.
Intro to Group Studio is a great place to begin if you are new to Rooted Pilates (or a current student interested in joining our apparatus classes) and injury-free*. This class is designed to teach the basics of the Pilates method on the apparatus (Reformer, Chair, Tower/Springboard, Barrels, and Mat), including how to move around and adjust the equipment safely and foundational exercises and progressions. It’s also a great complement to our Movement Principles class. After five (5) Intro to Group Studio classes, you are welcomed to join any general Group Studio class.

Group Studio is about challenging yourself to work deeper through your own full-studio practice on the various pieces of Pilates apparatus, including the Reformer, Chair, Springboard, Barrels, and Mat. This class is a small group, full-studio experience that encourages independence under the watchful eye of a skilled instructor as students move through a complete Pilates method circuit workout.
A small group setting of six (6) students will ensure that there’s still plenty of one-on-one guidance, support, and structure while encouraging you to own your Pilates practice
To keep you safe and ensure that you’re able to comfortably set up your equipment and understand your own body’s movement and limitations, we require that students with injuries or special conditions take at least two (2) Introductory Private sessions prior to joining a Group Studio class. We also recommend that students take a few Movement Principles classes before or along with your Intro to Group Studio classes or Introductory Private sessions.
